Painting's Inspiration: The original watercolor painting was a Christmas commission 2018 of a photographer friend, David, who at 2024 the time was a regular at the Sunday night Siesta Key drumming circle with his lady, Christy. I have painted many tropical women over the years and very few men. When I saw this photo of him on Facebook looking like the 'quintessential tropical man', I wanted to capture his style and add his portrait to my Gulf Coast series.
