Shell and Venetian green chevron beads. These antique beads were handmade in Venice using traditional bead making techniques in the late 1800's - 1900. The shells date from the late 1800's. They are excavated 2024 and some may have small chips. The strand (beads) measures 21”. They come as shown.
Note: All of the beads on this site are excavated, part of a large collection purchased years ago. Part of the collection has excellent provenance as to the early trading with Native Americans, others were just in groups. Unless noted I suspect these listed above were part of the African Trade. Demand for the larger trade beads in America dropped off in favor of the smaller seed beads used in Native American beadwork.
All of the artifacts are guaranteed to be original as stated. A hand signed and dated “Certificate of Authenticity” will be issued by Collectors Frame with a photograph of the item purchased. Please see our "About Collectors Frame”, below the reviews on the front page, for more information on the framing and artifacts.
