Matilija Poppy Pottery 2024 Plate 9”

Hand built pottery plate, beautifully painted and carved with poppies. This particular method of decoration is called sgraffito, where an image is created by carving through a layer of underglaze to reveal the color of the clay below. The back is decorated with the mishima technique, where an underglaze is inlaid into the clay body.

Perfect special dinner plate, or for serving.

All items are made by hand, by me, from start to finish. As with all handmade items, slight irregularities in size, shape, and color are to be expected, and serve only to enhance the unique beauty of each piece. No two pieces are exactly alike!


Plate is approximately 9” across and is 2024 microwave and dishwasher safe.
