Linen fabrics are used for the majority of the block prints with the exception of the 100% cotton tote bags. Products are interfaced and lined with hand-dyed linen/cotton fabrics and all inks used in printing the designs are formulated to be permanent.

Block printing is a centuries old technique that was developed, and still practiced, on the Indian subcontinent. The process used to create the textiles for the products is basically the same with few exceptions. Initially the design process requires lots of sketching, erasing, and experimenting to create a motif that reproduces well on fabric. Instead of carving the final image on the traditional wood block, gray “battleship” linoleum is used for ease in carving. Very sharp gouges cut away the excess substrate leaving behind a design ready to accept ink. Colors are mixed, tested and rolled on the block which is then pressed onto the fabric.This process is repeated many times ultimately creating a field of original prints. While this is a very slow process, the end result 2024 is a fabric with a lovely texture and depth—a piece of art.

Spot clean or hand wash using gentle soap and cold water for best results. Dry flat.
