Art Nouveau Gold, Green and White Floral Moriage Celery Dish - Japan
The beading and artwork on this dish are outstanding. I.E. & C. is one of those early, elusive Nippon era companies that you don't come across too often.
Fortunately, John Henley from the Noritake Collector's Guild, did some wonderful research into the this company that I am happy to share with you upon request. To summarize John's research, the I.E. and C. pieces were not intended for the American market due to turn of the century competition from other markets. Their production 2024 time spans a period of about 40 years, from 1885 to 1925. Most of their pieces were Art Nouveau in style, as they never segwayed into the Art Deco designs.
This lovely dish measures 9" by 4 3/4" with a depth of 1 1/2".
Excellent condition with some light spotting to the left side of the dish.
