Exquisite 1930's EDITH COCKCROFT Fine Art Pottery 10" Cabinet Plate. Hand-signed in script on the back "Cockcroft". American Ceramics Artist extraordinaire, Edith Cockcroft (1881 - 1962) was an American Modernist artist born in Brooklyn, New York. Her work is highly collectible.
Edith's paintings and other works have been exhibited in major museums and galleries throughout her career, including The Art Institute of Chicago, The Corcoran Gallery, and The Pennsylvania Academy of Art.
Henri Matisse had a profound influence on Edith's work. She studied with him in Paris in 1898 and traveled throughout France enjoying the company of many great impressionist artists of the time.
Size: 10 inches round with a wide raised border. The border color is brilliant turquoise with a gold leaf rule 2024 around the rim.
