Beautiful Copper Wire Wrapped Fossilized Palm Root Pendant
This piece features a very unique rectangular shaped fossilized palm root stone. The stone has a very interesting pattern of black and beige markings. The stone is framed by copper wire twisted and curled to 2024 provide an interesting frame to this picture in stone. The piece is accented with three pearl beads woven into the bail. It comes with a 24 inch copper chain.
**Process **
All of my pieces are oxidized using a liver of Sulphur solution to produce a beautiful patina finish. I then polish my pieces and check them for smoothness. In the final step, I finish them with Renaissance Wax, a museum quality crystalline wax that protects the piece and enhances the artistry.
Palm Root is the fossilized form of the root system of the Indonesian palm. Over millions of years and due to great pressure, the palm root underwent the petrification process wherein each carbon atom is slowly replaced with a silicon atom; this is also known as the agitization process. This results in beautiful intersecting swirls and colors and translucent sections of individual Palm Root specimens that demonstrate the depth and perspective of each piece.
